About the position
The Early Childhood Intervention Specialist position at Allegheny County's Department of Human Services involves overseeing and coordinating specialized social service functions aimed at supporting vulnerable children and families. This role requires collaboration with private agencies to provide Early Intervention services, ensuring compliance with state regulations and county policies. The specialist will engage in contract monitoring, provide technical assistance, and contribute to policy development and program improvements for early intervention services targeting children from birth to five years old.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate complex social service functions supporting vulnerable community members.
- Monitor contracts between Allegheny County and private agencies providing Early Intervention services.
- Provide technical assistance to service providers and stakeholders.
- Educate providers, schools, and the public on specialized Early Intervention services.
- Assist in policy development and programmatic changes for early intervention services.
- Audit Early Intervention programs and services for children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances.
- Work onsite at program provider locations, educational facilities, and the DHS office.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Two years of professional level experience in the field of mental health.
- Two years of full-time experience providing early intervention or early childhood services.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
