About the position

The Early Childhood Teacher Assistant/Aide at TSL Roots Early Learning Center plays a crucial role in supporting the classroom teacher and ensuring a nurturing and positive environment for children. This position involves engaging with children in daily activities, managing behavior, and fostering independence while adhering to state regulations and center policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in supervising and managing the children under their care.
• Interact with, initiate, and encourage children in daily activities.
• Help manage children's behavior using a Christ-centered, positive, and consistent approach.
• Follow a basic schedule providing for the spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of children.
• Help children grow and become independent.
• Assist the teacher in other ways as needed.
• Help build and support a caring team.
• Maintain medical logs accurately and make appropriate use of incident reports.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation in the room.
• Help ensure a smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Undergo and pass a background check.
• Undergo and pass a pre-employment physical exam and tuberculosis (TB) skin test within 6 months prior to beginning employment.
• Earn and biennially maintain certification in CPR, AED, and first aid prior to or within 90 days after beginning employment.
• Complete all state-required child care training prior to or within 90 days after beginning employment.
