About the position

The Early Childhood Teacher Long Term Substitute position at Westborough Public Schools is designed for a dynamic educator to join the team at The Westborough Early Childhood Center for a 12-week period, starting mid-November 2024 through mid-February. The role focuses on fostering a love of learning in a diverse and inclusive environment, providing engaging learning experiences across various subjects while adhering to Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that embraces diversity and ensures equitable opportunities for student learning.
• Provide learning experiences across all subject areas as guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards.
• Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.
• Evaluate and refine instructional practices and assessment strategies to enhance student engagement and confidence.
• Participate in professional development activities and maintain licensure and recertification.
• Attend faculty and committee meetings as required, and participate in district-wide committees as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field.
• MA DESE licensure in Early Childhood Education; SEI Endorsement.
• Experience teaching in a diverse public school setting with English Language Learners.
• Experience with students with special needs, including emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges.
• Strong background in literacy and math instruction, along with science and social studies instruction.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional certification in special education and/or ESL.
• Experience with co-teaching, balanced literacy, explicit phonics instruction, inquiry-based instruction, and project-based learning.
• Familiarity with FOCUS on Early Learning Curriculum, Building Blocks Math, and Second Step.
