About the position

The Substitute Early Childhood Teacher at Smart Start Academy is responsible for filling in for regular teachers in various classrooms, including infant, toddler, and preschool rooms, during their absence due to illness or vacation. This part-time role requires a passion for working with young children and the ability to follow early childhood development principles while maintaining effective relationships with children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for teachers in the infant, toddler, or preschool rooms as needed.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
• Follow the Smart Start Academy written work plan for early childhood development.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and parents.
• Lift weights ranging from 5 lbs to 40 lbs as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Education required.
• 1 year of experience working with children in a preschool or daycare setting.
• Ability to work with children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
• Must meet DCFS requirements for employment regarding education and health.

Nice-to-haves

• AA in Early Childhood Education preferred.
