About the position

The Early Education BAAS Program Director and Instructor at Trinity Valley Community College is responsible for providing leadership and management for the Early Childhood and Teaching programs. This role focuses on overseeing the Bachelor of Arts and Applied Sciences (BAAS) in Early Education degree program, ensuring curriculum alignment with Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards, and supporting faculty and students. The position involves curriculum development, program assessment, budget management, student advising, and community engagement to foster a sustainable teacher preparation program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, evaluate, and ensure the alignment of the teacher certification program with TEA standards.
  • Collaborate with the TVCC Division Chair of Education and Public Services to support a seamless transition from the Associate of Arts in Teaching to the BAAS program.
  • Develop, refine, and schedule BAAS program curricula and course offerings each term.
  • Create and implement assessment plans and lead data analysis to support program planning and sustainability.
  • Manage and oversee the BAAS program budget.
  • Advise prospective and current students within the BAAS program.
  • Develop resources and events to support career placement for graduating students.
  • Partner with the TVCC Marketing Department to create recruitment and marketing strategies for the BAAS program.
  • Serve as the field experience liaison, coordinating clinical and observation placements with ISDs.
  • Represent the college within community, civic, and state organizations, fostering positive relationships with local stakeholders.
  • Plan and oversee program-sponsored events.
  • Coordinate and assist in developing reports for program accreditation.
  • Serve as Certification Officer, reviewing student documents and recommending TVCC graduates for teaching certificates.
  • Coordinate certification testing for BAAS graduates and ensure compliance with TEA guidelines for curriculum and candidate placements.
  • Teach a maximum of 3 credit hours per semester as part of their load, with a 4-course release, and up to 3 overloads.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education teaching and program administration.
  • Knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards and teacher certification processes.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
