About the position

The Early Intervention Specialist plays a crucial role in providing intervention services to infants, toddlers, and their families, aiming to enhance the child's functional skills and mitigate the effects of disabilities or developmental delays. This position requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and assess children, develop treatment plans, and educate families about their rights and available resources. Services are delivered in the child's natural environment, utilizing both in-person and telehealth methods.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intervention services to infants and toddlers to enhance functional skills.
  • Participate in an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and assess children.
  • Determine eligibility for early intervention services.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for children.
  • Document progress and maintain required records.
  • Educate families and community partners about early intervention services.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other care providers.
  • Coordinate access to resources for families and support their understanding of rights and advocacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Family Studies, Child Development, or a related field with relevant coursework in child development.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and approved driving record throughout employment.
  • Completion of certification training within the first year of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Knowledge of typical and atypical development in children aged birth to three years.
  • Understanding of childhood conditions related to early intervention services.
  • Ability to work sensitively with families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
