About the position

The Early Learning Coach Specialist at BrightSpark Early Learning Services plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of childcare in King and Pierce Counties. This position involves providing direct support to childcare providers, assisting them in becoming licensed, and helping them implement effective early childhood education practices. The Specialist will engage in coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to ensure that providers meet quality standards and improve their business practices, ultimately promoting better outcomes for children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed center and family childcare providers in entering the WA State Early Achievers Quality Recognition Improvement System.
  • Provide anti-racist, culturally relevant, and inclusive assistance to licensed childcare facilities throughout King and Pierce Counties.
  • Deliver technical assistance and group learning experiences on Early Achievers quality standards and program assessment tools.
  • Manage a caseload of directors and family childcare providers to develop and evaluate quality improvement plans.
  • Model respect for providers and their cultural practices while supporting ECE best practices.
  • Document all technical assistance and coaching activities through web-based software programs.
  • Provide direct support to providers via the Provider Phone Line as assigned.
  • Participate in regular team, program, and agency meetings and training activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and 3 years of related work experience, or a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and 2 years of related job experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity, cultural relevancy, and inclusion.
  • Ability to facilitate reflective practice sessions with early learning professionals.
  • Practical experience in areas such as Infant Development, Toddler Development, Preschool Development, and Childcare Center Administration.
  • Knowledge of childcare licensing and the regulatory environment surrounding Family and center-based childcare.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali languages.
  • Coursework or formal training in culturally appropriate anti-bias practice and theory.
  • Experience utilizing research-based quality assessments to guide quality improvement plans.
