About the position

The Early Literacy Instructional Coach plays a crucial role in enhancing instructional practices for teachers in grades K-3. This position focuses on supporting teachers through data analysis, instructional feedback, and curriculum development to improve literacy outcomes for all students, including bilingual and English-only learners. The coach collaborates with academic staff to share best practices and ensure effective implementation of the district's reading/language arts program.

Responsibilities

  • Observe instructional delivery and provide feedback to enhance teacher development.
  • Support teachers in designing units and lessons for their year-long curriculum.
  • Analyze data to modify curriculum and assessments to meet student needs.
  • Work with academic staff to share best practices in instruction.
  • Provide support for the implementation of the District's reading/language arts program.
  • Conduct demonstration lessons to train teachers in advanced delivery methods.
  • Provide on-site staff development on program components and instructional design.
  • Assist teachers in creating an interactive classroom environment focused on content and learning strategies.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide 'next step' support for teachers.
  • Identify appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement.
  • Assist teachers in preparation and pacing for instruction.
  • Participate in collaborative grade level meetings to analyze assessment data.
  • Assist grade level teams in setting goals for improved instruction.
  • Meet regularly with the principal to review assessment data and assess outcomes of established goals.
  • Develop lesson plans, prepare forms, records, and reports as directed.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as directed.

Requirements

  • Experience in teaching literacy in grades K-3.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and instructional practices.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Experience in curriculum design and lesson planning.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for diverse learners, including English Learners and students with special needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with bilingual education programs.
  • Familiarity with the District's adopted reading/language arts program.
  • Previous coaching or mentoring experience in an educational setting.
