About the position

The Eating Disorder Technician (ED Tech 1) at Center for Discovery plays a crucial role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey, from admission to discharge. This position is integral to the treatment process, as it involves providing direct support to patients, ensuring their safety, and facilitating their engagement in therapeutic activities. The ED Tech 1 is responsible for creating a supportive environment that fosters recovery and personal growth, utilizing evidence-based practices to assist patients in developing coping skills and achieving their treatment goals. In this role, the ED Tech 1 will assist patients during the admission process, which includes checking in their belongings and helping them acclimate to the program and the treatment milieu. Effective communication with patients and their families is essential, as the technician will provide updates and support as needed. Daily responsibilities include assisting patients with their routines, such as morning hygiene, meals, and evening activities, while also managing the treatment environment to ensure a safe and therapeutic space. The ED Tech 1 will lead psychoeducational groups, providing valuable information and support to patients as they navigate their treatment. Documentation of patient progress is a critical aspect of this role, requiring objective and accurate reporting on a daily basis. The position is full-time, with scheduled hours from Tuesday to Saturday, 2 PM to 10 PM, allowing for consistent engagement with patients during their treatment process.

Responsibilities

  • Supports patient during admission processes, including checking in belongings and acclimating them to the program.
  • Effectively communicates with families and loved ones as appropriate.
  • Assists and supports patients in daily activities such as waking routines, morning hygiene, meals, nighttime routines, and bathroom observations.
  • Provides milieu management throughout the treatment experience and communicates with all team members.
  • Engages in brief check-ins with patients to provide support and guidance in using coping skills.
  • Facilitates psychoeducational groups for the expected length of time identified in the program schedule.
  • Documents patient progress accurately and objectively on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in mental health treatment or a Bachelor's degree, preferred.
  • Must possess a current driver's license and be in good standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a residential treatment setting.
