About the position

The EC-Art Teacher for grades K-4 is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This role enables students to develop competencies and skills necessary to function successfully in society. The teacher will assist and support the building principal to ensure the on-site administration and execution of the district's educational programs, policies, and regulations, while delivering quality instruction for all students in a safe and healthy environment. The teacher will develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's instructional curriculum program, ensuring that written evidence of preparation is maintained as required. Lessons must reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations. Establishing efficient classroom management procedures and maintaining standards of pupil behavior are essential responsibilities of this position. Additionally, the teacher will establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district. Continual evaluation and recording of various aspects of students' progress will be necessary, with reports to parents as needed and required. The teacher will teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject area at the grade level, understand and plan lessons leading to subject area objectives, and assume responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes. The role also involves providing a variety of planned learning experiences using diverse media and methods to motivate students and best utilize available instructional time. Identifying pupil needs and cooperating with other professional staff members to assess and help students resolve health, attitude, and learning problems is crucial. The teacher will be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school and will share the responsibility of interpreting educational programs to the community through activities such as open house and PTA meetings. Planning and coordinating the work of aides and other paraprofessionals and student teachers (when applicable) is also part of the job. The teacher will participate cooperatively with the principal to develop the evaluation system in conformance with the district's uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment. Keeping accurate records of student information and compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required by the school and district is essential. Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various routine tasks, duties, and procedures with the ability to follow specific instructions with little or no previous experience.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
