About the position

The EC (General Curriculum) Teacher at River Bend is responsible for providing special education services to students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role involves developing and implementing Individual Education Programs (IEPs), adapting lesson plans, and monitoring student progress to support their academic, behavioral, and social development. The position is temporary and will conclude on June 6, 2025.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement instructional plans compatible with school and system-wide curricular goals and students' IEPs.
• Create and update Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities based on diagnostic information.
• Provide direct special education instruction to identified students using various teaching methods.
• Monitor student behavior, maintain discipline, and deescalate inappropriate behaviors.
• Assist disabled students with personal and self-help needs such as eating and toileting.
• Communicate with parents regarding their children's educational progress through written reports.
• Act as a case coordinator for assigned students, consulting with caregivers and school support professionals.
• Maintain student records in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Treat all students fairly and interact effectively with students, co-workers, and parents.

Requirements

• Degree in special education.
• Certification in at least one area of disability as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
• Experience in lesson planning and developing IEPs.
