About the position

The Echo Technician at Methodist Hospital plays a crucial role in performing diagnostic cardiac exams under the direction of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Manager. This position requires proficiency in various echocardiographic techniques and the ability to operate and maintain cardiac imaging equipment. The technician is responsible for ensuring patient safety, obtaining necessary consents, and accurately documenting procedures in accordance with hospital policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms, including 2-D, M-mode, color doppler, pulsed wave doppler, and continuous wave doppler.
  • Conduct transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs) and carotid imaging as per physician orders.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of echocardiographic equipment.
  • Document all procedures and patient interactions accurately according to hospital standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team regarding procedures and patient care.
  • Assist with head-up tilt table testing and ensure patient safety during the process.
  • Maintain patient reports and ensure proper storage of archived exam data.

Requirements

  • Registry eligible for RDCS/RDMS-FE from ARDMS or RCS from CCI.
  • Completion of an Associate's Degree in a patient-care related allied health education program and one year of clinical ultrasound experience, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or equivalent certification required within 12 months of hire if not already registered.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital setting as an Echo Technician.
  • Familiarity with PACS systems and disaster recovery procedures.
