About the position

The Echo Technician at Methodist Hospital plays a crucial role in performing diagnostic cardiac exams under the direction of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Manager. This position requires proficiency in various echocardiographic techniques and the ability to operate and maintain cardiac imaging equipment. The technician is responsible for ensuring patient safety, obtaining necessary consents, and accurately documenting procedures in accordance with hospital policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms including 2-D, M-mode, color doppler, pulsed wave doppler, and continuous wave doppler.
  • Conduct transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs) and carotid imaging as per physician orders.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of echocardiographic equipment during patient exams.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding procedures and ensure understanding of the process.
  • Document all patient reports and maintain compliance with hospital policies regarding patient data management.
  • Assist with head-up tilt table testing and ensure patient preparation and monitoring during the procedure.
  • Take call as scheduled and assist with disaster recovery procedures for the Image Archive Servers.

Requirements

  • Registry eligible for RDCS/RDMS-FE from ARDMS or RCS from CCI.
  • Completion of an Associate's Degree or two-year patient-care related allied health education program with one year of clinical ultrasound experience.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree with six months of full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
  • Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or equivalent certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pediatric echocardiograms.
  • Familiarity with cardiac imaging software and PACS systems.
