About the position

The Economic Development Analyst/Senior Economic Development Analyst position is a vital role within the Development Services Department of the City of Manteca. This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and technical duties that support the city's economic development and redevelopment programs. Under general supervision, the analyst will conduct complex research and analysis, assist in business recruitment, formation, retention, and expansion efforts, and perform related duties as assigned. The role requires a proactive approach to encourage the attraction and growth of new and existing employers within the community, ensuring that the city remains competitive and economically viable. The analyst will be tasked with planning, developing, monitoring, and implementing various programs and projects aimed at fostering economic growth. This includes providing administrative and technical support to the department and city staff, responding to inquiries from existing and new businesses, and assisting them with site selection and connecting them with appropriate city departments and resources. The position also involves conducting research on economic development programs, analyzing data, and preparing comprehensive reports and recommendations to guide decision-making. In addition to these responsibilities, the analyst will assist in the development and implementation of marketing materials, including graphic design and digital content, to promote the city’s economic development initiatives. Identifying potential funding sources for economic development activities, preparing grant applications, and managing grants and contracts are also key components of this role. The analyst will serve as a liaison to various stakeholders, including city departments, the City Council, state agencies, and community groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on economic development matters. The position requires attendance at professional group meetings, trade shows, and conferences to stay updated on trends and innovations in economic development, bringing new ideas to the program. Overall, this role is essential for driving the economic development agenda of the City of Manteca, requiring a blend of analytical skills, marketing acumen, and strong interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in economics, marketing, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
• For Economic Development Analyst: One year of experience in economic development activities; local government experience is desirable.
• For Senior Economic Development Analyst: Two years of public sector experience in a comparable role.
