About the position

The Economic Development Research Analyst will support the New York City Comptroller's Office in promoting a thriving and inclusive economy through quantitative and qualitative analysis. This role involves producing research reports, contributing to economic newsletters, and monitoring the city's economic outlook, all aimed at enhancing economic development and equity in New York City.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality research reports, briefs, and internal memos on inclusive economic development issues.
  • Contribute to the Comptroller's monthly economic newsletter and other publications.
  • Monitor, model, and forecast the City's economic outlook.
  • Scan policy developments and academic literature to enhance economic analysis.
  • Identify and propose new economic development topics for research.
  • Assist with operations and external communication related to economic equity and development.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree in economics, public policy/administration, social sciences, or a related field and three or more years of experience in economic analysis, public policy analysis, or financial analysis; or a graduate degree and one or more years of relevant experience.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Strong writing capability and interest in public policy and economics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in budgetary planning or management.
  • Familiarity with economic security issues among marginalized groups.
