About the position

The Economic Development Research Analyst position at the New York City Comptroller's Office focuses on promoting a thriving and inclusive economy in New York City. The role involves conducting both quantitative and qualitative analyses, producing research reports, and contributing to the Bureau of Budget's efforts in monitoring and forecasting the city's economic outlook. The analyst will engage with various economic development topics and support the office's economic equity agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality research reports, briefs, and internal memos on inclusive economic development issues.
  • Contribute to the Comptroller's monthly economic newsletter and other publications.
  • Monitor, model, and forecast the City's economic outlook.
  • Scan policy developments, news, and academic literature to enhance economic analysis.
  • Identify and propose new economic development topics for research.
  • Assist with operations, programming, and external communication related to economic equity.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in economics, public policy/administration, social sciences, or a related field and three or more years of full-time experience in economic analysis, public policy analysis, or financial analysis; or a graduate degree and one or more years of relevant experience.
  • Strong writing capability and interest in public policy and economics.
