About the position

The Economic Development Specialist position at the City of San Bernardino involves supporting the city's business attraction and retention programs. The role includes developing marketing materials, conducting research, and collaborating with local and regional organizations to enhance economic development efforts. The specialist will also assist in project processing, provide customer service, and maintain the Economic Development Division's web presence.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of professional level research, administrative support, and analysis in support of the City's Economic Development functions.
• Coordinate with City staff to facilitate project processing and permitting.
• Assist in the preparation of staff reports for various groups, committees, commissions, and boards.
• Conduct site location assistance for business locators and research available properties.
• Maintain and enhance the Economic Development Division web page on the City's website.
• Assist in the operations of the Business Retention and Attraction efforts.
• Provide support to and participate in various meetings of community groups and service organizations.
• Maintain and analyze a variety of data including Business Retention and Attraction data.
• Develop marketing materials intended to attract new business and industries to the city.
• Assist the Department Director and Economic Development Managers in responding to RFPs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, business administration, economics, marketing, or a closely related field.
• 1 year of professional experience related to economic development activities and programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Valid California driver's license.

Nice-to-haves
