About the position

As a Research Analyst (RA) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, you will play a critical role in economic research and policy projects that impact the U.S. economy and financial system. This position requires a strong academic background in economics, mathematics, or related fields, and proficiency in statistical software or programming languages. The role involves assisting staff economists in analyzing public policy issues and conducting research on various economic topics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff economists in the analysis of current public policy issues and events, including monetary policy and the state of the US and global economy.
  • Run and maintain financial, banking, and macroeconomic forecasting models.
  • Prepare background material for briefings with the Atlanta Fed president.
  • Provide statistical and computational analysis to support staff economists' research activities.

Requirements

  • Strong academic record in economics, mathematics, finance, statistics, computer science, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with at least one statistical software package or programming language (e.g., Stata, R, Python, SQL, Julia, or Matlab).
  • Strong communication skills and extensive experience working collaboratively.
  • Experience in working with micro data is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in economic research or policy analysis.
  • Familiarity with macroeconomic and monetary policy topics.
