About the position

The SW Factory Ecosystem DevSecOps Software Developer will lead a team in architecting and building a cloud-based software factory for the Space Development Agency's Battle Management Command, Control and Communication (BMC3) Program. This role focuses on developing secure and efficient mission applications for space vehicle platforms, contributing to Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives. The position offers opportunities for mentorship, exposure to advanced security practices, and collaboration with skilled engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Articulate technical concepts to new developers to align technical teams to the BMC3 platform.
  • Code, test, debug, document, and deploy custom applications.
  • Understand and implement Compiled Software Build Processes.
  • Assist Application Development technical teams with effective Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or Configuration as Code (CaC).
  • Program script logic from customer-defined specifications to build code in the SW Factory.
  • Follow BMC3 policy and understand business, technical, and program requirements.
  • Apply analytical, automation, and coding skills in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Prepare Lean design documentation.
  • Build, use, and debug CI/CD pipelines.
  • Utilize cloud-based tool stacks for development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and ten years of experience or a Master's degree and five years of experience.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one upon hiring.
  • Possess a DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., Security+) or ability to obtain it within 60 days.
  • Experience integrating large, complex software systems.
  • Experience with cloud architecture and implementation features.
  • Strong software development skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, Rust, JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of web services and APIs (e.g., REST, JSON).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced language features such as metaprogramming and code generation.
  • API Development with REST, SOAP, OpenAPI (swagger).
  • Experience with Containerization using Docker or Red Hat Podman.
  • Container management with Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Security automation tools such as Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Dynamic App.
