About the position

As a Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients. This part-time position requires you to work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 0515 to 1345, with one Thursday per month instead of Wednesday. You will be responsible for delivering direct patient care, collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your role will involve utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient health. You will also demonstrate leadership and management skills, showing a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The RN is expected to advance from novice to expert, becoming an evidence-based scholar to advocate for patients effectively. You will be accountable for adhering to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and all regulatory standards, policies, protocols, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients within the RN's scope of responsibility.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills while committing to professional accountability and growth.
  • Act as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health.
  • Ensure patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures and utilizing patient safety resources.
  • Implement a plan of care according to identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
