About the position

The Support Associate (SA) plays a crucial role in the Emergency Department by ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available, maintained, and organized. This position involves direct supervision by the Emergency Department Administrative Manager and requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient environment for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Completes inventory, maintains par levels, and stocks Emergency Department supply rooms, closets, and medication rooms daily.
  • Maintains overall organization and cleanliness of supply rooms.
  • Works with hospital Materials Management staff to ensure timely delivery of supplies to the Emergency Department clean supply room.
  • Responds to urgent pages from clinical staff and provides customer service support to end users.
  • Checks each treatment bay for supplies and equipment, ensuring they are clean, in working order, and organized.
  • Replaces, cleans, or makes repairs to equipment as necessary.
  • Stocks and organizes supply carts and specialty supply carts in assigned areas.
  • Checks, maintains, cleans, and organizes centrally managed equipment in assigned areas.
  • Delivers soiled equipment to Sterile Processing Department for decontamination and retrieves cleaned equipment for use.
  • Monitors expiration dates of commodities and rotates stock accordingly.
  • Collaborates with various hospital staff to identify and remedy supply and equipment problems.
  • Stocks patient treatment rooms with necessary forms and maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment in the Emergency Department.
  • Completes reports at the end of each shift to document tasks and follow-up items.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2 years prior experience in a similar clinical setting preferred.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Basic knowledge of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Ability to organize and maximize storage space.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to perform basic math for inventory management.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow hospital guidelines.
