About the position

The EDI Analyst/Programmer II at El Paso Health is responsible for analyzing, designing, testing, and implementing various Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions. This role involves managing day-to-day EDI processes, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and HIPAA regulations, and contributing technical expertise to EDI transaction processing. The analyst will collaborate closely with the Director of Information Systems and various departments to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot EDI interfaces, while also managing projects related to HIPAA transaction sets and custom interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements for EDI transactions and design appropriate solutions.
  • Test and implement various EDI transactions according to specifications.
  • Perform day-to-day EDI process functions and operations related to contractual requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA EDI transaction processing requirements.
  • Contribute technical expertise to EDI transaction processing framework.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Information Systems and other departments for EDI interface development.
  • Assist in managing projects of varying complexities, including HIPAA transaction sets and custom interfaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in managed care applications, with three years in SQL and Windows platforms.
  • Proficiency in creating DTS packages, Stored Procedures, and using Visual Basic.
  • Experience with Globalscape EFT and Microsoft Access.
  • Proven experience in processing Texas Medicaid Joint Interface plan files and using Microsoft Biztalk.
  • Above average proficiency with EDI interface engine tools for troubleshooting and developing files.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior consulting experience in a technical support role.
  • Experience with healthcare maintenance organization (HMO) claim systems.
