About the position

As an EDI Applications Engineer at thyssenkrupp Bilstein USA, Inc. in Hamilton, Ohio, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our logistics and supply chain operations. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and executing continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing cost structures, improving productivity, and enhancing product throughput. You will be tasked with streamlining processes and improving service and performance metrics for our Materials and Logistics operations. In this role, you will design, analyze, and implement supply chain solutions to address logistics challenges related to the distribution of materials and finished goods. You will interface directly with customers and vendors to design, implement, modify, and maintain Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) connections, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange. Additionally, you will develop and implement methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our operations. Your expertise will be essential in overseeing the administration of SAP ERP systems for logistics processes, including integration with various modules such as WM, IM, MM, PP, and SD. You will document logistics engineering solutions, processes, best practices, policies, and procedures, as well as manage change initiatives and training resources. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of logistics and supply chain management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and execute continuous improvement initiatives for Materials and Logistics operations.
  • Analyze and implement supply chain solutions to solve logistics problems for distribution of materials and finished goods.
  • Interface with customers and vendors to design, implement, modify, and maintain EDI connections.
  • Develop and implement methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain.
  • Oversee the administration of SAP ERP systems for logistics processes, including integration with WM/IM/MM/PP/SD modules.
  • Document logistics engineering solutions, processes, best practices, policies and procedures, and training resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic engineering, or foreign equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in a logistics engineering position in the automotive suspension system industry.
  • 5 years of experience with setting up Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) supplier profiles and monitoring EDI transactions.
  • Experience administering and managing logistics processes in the automotive suspension system industry, including production and material planning.
  • Experience interfacing with automotive suspension system industry customers regarding logistics, EDI, and supply chain issues.
  • Experience overseeing the administration of SAP ERP systems for logistics processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with JIT/Forecast requirements and Subcontractor requirements.
  • Knowledge of ASNs and Invoices in logistics processes.
