About the position

V2X is seeking an experienced EDIN System Administrator to join our dynamic team in Indianapolis, IN. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the Engineering Development and Innovation Network (EDIN) management team, focusing on the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the network and its systems. This position requires a strong understanding of both Linux and Windows system administration, with a particular emphasis on Windows domain services, imaging, virtualization, and system security processes such as STIGs and general hardening. The ideal candidate will also be adept at managing endpoint devices and will possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interface with users. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our systems and networks, which includes patching, updating, and configuring both Windows and Linux systems. You will manage Windows domain services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects. Additionally, you will be involved in networking tasks such as switch management, VLAN setup, and subnetting. Your expertise in device imaging for both Linux and Windows environments will be essential, as will your familiarity with reverse proxies and remote desktop and SSH gateways. The position also requires experience in configuring and managing storage solutions, particularly SANs and NASs, with a preference for TrueNAS. You will be expected to configure and manage virtual environments and implement and maintain system security measures, including vulnerability scanning and obtaining Authorization To Operate (ATOs). Your ability to plan and design hardware architecture and system design will be critical to the success of our operations. Furthermore, you should be capable of scripting in Bash and PowerShell and have familiarity with various programming languages. Experience with software development containerization, automation, and analysis tools will also be beneficial. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with users and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the EDIN network and its systems.
  • Manage and configure Windows domain services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects.
  • Perform patching, updating, and configuring of Windows and Linux systems.
  • Configure and manage storage solutions, including SANs and NASs.
  • Implement and maintain system security processes, including STIGs and vulnerability scanning.
  • Plan and design hardware architecture and system design.
  • Manage endpoint devices and ensure their security and functionality.
  • Script in Bash and PowerShell for automation and management tasks.
  • Configure and manage virtual environments and software development containerization tools.
  • Interact with users to provide support and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressive technical experience in Linux and Windows administration.
  • High degree of comfort working at the Linux command line.
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing SSL.
  • Experience with patching, updating, and configuring Windows and Linux systems.
  • Proficient in File Share configuration and mount points.
  • Experience managing Windows domain services (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, etc.).
  • Experience with networking, including switch management and VLAN setup.
  • Experience with device imaging for both Linux and Windows.
  • Familiarity with reverse proxies, RD, and SSH Gateways.
  • Experience configuring and managing storage solutions (SANs & NASs).
  • Proficient in configuring and managing virtual environments.
  • Understanding of system security implementation and maintenance.
  • Experience with obtaining and maintaining Authorization To Operate (ATOs).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
