About the position

The Arena Group is seeking an Editor, Commerce to join our centralized commerce team, focusing on executing our content strategy across various brands, particularly Parade. This full-time position is based in New York, NY, and operates in a hybrid model, requiring three days in the office each week. The ideal candidate will be a digital-savvy editor with a strong background in lifestyle and commerce topics, including home and garden, consumer electronics, and women's lifestyle. A compelling cover letter or portfolio showcasing expertise in these areas will be highly regarded. In this role, the Editor, Commerce will be responsible for sourcing product news, assigning and editing new content, updating and optimizing existing articles, and maintaining an editorial calendar. The candidate will also write stories as needed, demonstrating a keen ability to identify compelling deals and effectively communicate their value to our audience. The position requires flexibility, as the editor must be willing to work nights and weekends during key shopping events such as Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Reporting directly to the Executive Editor, Commerce, this role is crucial in ensuring that our content not only resonates with readers but also drives revenue for the company. The Arena Group offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $85,000, with actual salaries varying based on factors such as location, education, and experience. Responsibilities

  • Assign, write, and edit commerce content across brands, including news and deals posts, evergreen roundups, and single-product reviews.
  • Create and oversee the team's editorial calendar, coordinating with brand editors and commerce strategy managers.
  • Monitor the daily news cycle and promotional events to flag commerce opportunities.
  • Edit clear, compelling, and accurate stories on tight deadlines.
  • Use analytics and research tools to monitor story and topic performance, making data-driven decisions.
  • Update and optimize existing stories to ensure content is recent and accurate.
  • Develop a roster of writers who can produce high-quality commerce stories across topics.
  • Write and build stories in the CMS as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in a fast-paced digital environment with increasing editing/assigning responsibilities, ideally 1+ years in the commerce space.
  • Proven success driving growth in Women's Lifestyle categories, including apparel, accessories, personal care, and beauty.
  • Strong angling and formatting skills with excellent judgment for audience engagement across digital platforms.
  • Knowledge of trends and new products, with the ability to foster relationships with brands and PR agencies.
  • Understanding of digital content best practices, including SEO, AP Style, and data interpretation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a strong ability to build relationships with internal collaborators.
  • Ability to write and edit quickly without compromising factual information or brand integrity.

  • Enthusiasm for identified categories and creating compelling shopping coverage.
