About the position

Grand Central Publishing is seeking an Editor to expand its fiction program, responsible for acquiring 10-12 titles annually in commercial fiction, particularly in book club fiction, romantasy, and fiction with romantic elements. The Editor will identify market trends, negotiate contracts, edit manuscripts, and oversee the production process, all while working in a hybrid model based in NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire projects from various sources including agents and authors.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with authors, agents, and internal staff.
  • Handle departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Represent the division at tradeshows and industry events.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in trade book acquiring and editing.
  • Proven editorial skills in shaping commercial fiction manuscripts.
  • Solid knowledge of book publishing processes and functions.
  • Strong contacts in the publishing industry.
  • Ability to stay informed about market trends and reader preferences.
