About the position

The Editor-in-Chief of Molecular Cell is responsible for setting the journal's scientific scope and editorial direction. This role involves leading an editorial team, ensuring the quality and quantity of published research articles, and fostering partnerships across various teams within Cell Press. The position requires a dynamic individual with editorial and publishing expertise to shape and lead a premier journal in the molecular biology research arena.

Responsibilities

• Refine and expand the strategic focus of the journal
• Hire and manage a team of scientific editors
• Establish and build relationships with the advisory board
• Manage day-to-day operations at the journal
• Recruit exciting papers within the journal's scope
• Collaborate on defining production workflows, marketing, social media, and website
• Work with editorial teams of relevant Cell Press journals

Requirements

• Ph.D. in any area of molecular biology
• 5+ years of full-time editorial experience
• Broad interest across the full spectrum of molecular biology research
• Established network with the molecular biology research community
• Solid project and/or people management skills
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Interest in engaging with the scientific community
• Previous management experience is beneficial but not required
