About the position

IXL Learning, a leader in personalized learning products, is seeking a dedicated full-time content editor to join our curriculum team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and clarity of K-12 educational materials across math, science, and social studies. As a content editor, you will be responsible for meticulously reviewing and editing educational content to ensure it meets high standards of grammar, style, and clarity. You will collaborate closely with curriculum designers to produce polished and effective educational resources that cater to the needs of learners. In this position, you will review various educational materials for spelling, punctuation, and grammar, ensuring that all content adheres to IXL's writing guidelines and the Chicago Manual of Style. You will also assess the appropriateness of the text for different grade levels, providing guidance to team members on style questions and maintaining internal style guides. Your expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience for students by ensuring that the materials are not only accurate but also engaging and accessible. This is a full-time position based in our Raleigh, NC area office, where you will be part of a dynamic team committed to creating innovative educational products that make a positive impact on learners and educators alike. Responsibilities

  • Review math, science, and social studies materials for spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Edit content for style and clarity.
  • Ensure content adheres to IXL's writing guidelines and the Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Review text for grade-level appropriateness.
  • Advise team members on style questions and maintain internal style guides.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • 2+ years of professional editing experience required
  • Impeccable knowledge of English grammar
  • Proven superior writing and editing skills
  • Ability to adjust to in-house style guidelines
  • Familiarity working with the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Understanding of K-12 students' reading and knowledge levels
  • Strong communication skills, especially via email
  • Ability to be efficient and organized while working on multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with math, science, or social studies content is a plus.
