About the position

The Editor Videographer position at Houston Community College (HCC) is a dynamic role that combines technical expertise in video editing and production with a commitment to enhancing the student experience. This position is integral to HCCTV, where the successful candidate will engage in non-linear editing (NLE) of video content and Electronic Field Production (EFP) videography. The role demands a high level of creativity and technical skill, as the individual will be responsible for editing video for various television productions, special projects, news stories, and promotional announcements. The environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality and detail. In addition to editing, the Editor Videographer will also be involved in shooting video in the field for television productions and other projects. This includes providing technical support and expertise during both in-studio and on-location shoots. The role is collaborative, requiring the individual to work closely with other team members to set up and strike sets for show production. The position is designed for someone who is not only skilled in video production but also passionate about contributing to the academic and community service missions of HCC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media production, with at least two years of experience in NLE editing and EFP videography. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite is essential. The role also requires the ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with various stakeholders, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to the demands of a fast-paced production environment. The Editor Videographer will play a crucial role in shaping the visual storytelling of HCC, ensuring that the institution's proud tradition of excellence is effectively communicated through engaging video content.

Responsibilities

• Edits video for television productions, special projects, news or feature stories, or promotional announcements.
• Supports team in striking and building sets for show production.
• Shoots in-field for television productions, special projects, news and feature stories, and promotional announcements.
• Provides technical support and expertise for in-studio or in-field video shoots.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma; some college preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience directly related to media, media production, or cable television production.
• Minimum two (2) years of NLE editing experience and graphics creation.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience with Apple Final Cut Pro.
• Minimum two (2) years of EFP videography experience.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to work early morning, night, and weekend assignments as needed.
• Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to achieve specific goals.
• Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs of video production related equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products with intermediate level proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Internet Explorer.
