About the position

As an editor in the College of Agriculture at Kansas State University, you will shape impactful documents for diverse audiences, collaborating with authors, designers, and publishing team staff to edit and produce a variety of professional documents including research reports and educational materials. This role also involves providing strategic communications and marketing leadership for the College.

Responsibilities

  • Proofread and edit a wide range of content, including research reports and educational materials to ensure grammatical correctness and consistency with style and tone.
  • Approach projects from a digital delivery perspective to maximize end-user access and content use.
  • Responsible for quality control, production, and distribution of materials with respect to timelines and budgets.
  • Work with printers to ensure delivery of properly built design files.
  • Consult with clients on project expectations to reach intended audiences and create desired impact.
  • Remain current on new developments in technical writing, editing, and publishing for both digital and traditional formats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or educational equivalency as determined by a hiring manager.
  • Two years of editing experience.
  • Knowledge or experience with production agriculture.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work to meet commitments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in English, journalism, or related field.
