About the position

The Editorial Designer and Multimedia Content Creator is responsible for enhancing the visual identity of Old Dominion University through the creation of high-quality photos, infographics, and the design of the bi-annual magazine. This role supports various marketing and public relations efforts, aiming to engage the audience effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Capture high-quality photos for various projects.
  • Create eye-catching infographics to support marketing efforts.
  • Design and produce the bi-annual magazine for the university.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to elevate the visual identity of the university.
  • Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

Requirements

  • Considerable proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Exceptional creativity and a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong typography, color theory, and page composition skills.
  • Considerable experience in professional editorial design with a strong portfolio.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with videography and/or video editing.
  • Experience with photojournalism.
  • Some experience in a marketing communications office.
