About the position

The Editorial Designer and Multimedia Content Creator at Old Dominion University is responsible for enhancing the university's visual identity through high-quality photography, engaging infographics, and the design of the bi-annual Monarch Magazine. This role supports various marketing and public relations efforts, aiming to captivate and engage the audience effectively.

Responsibilities

• Capture high-quality photos for various university publications and marketing materials.
• Create eye-catching infographics to support news stories and PR efforts.
• Design and produce the bi-annual Monarch Magazine.
• Collaborate with the marketing communications team to articulate editorial concepts and ideas.
• Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while adapting to changing priorities.

Requirements

• Considerable experience in professional editorial design with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong skills in typography, color theory, and page composition.
• Exceptional creativity and attention to detail.
• Considerable organizational and project management skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Some experience with videography and video editing.
• Some experience in photojournalism.
• Experience with magazine design and production.
