About the position

The Editorial Project Specialist (Part-Time) at FPIN will play a crucial role in the editorial team, focusing on the publication of high-quality research. This position is designed for an organized and detail-oriented individual who can effectively manage editorial tasks alongside training and project management responsibilities. The role involves a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence on specific days and some travel throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Review research manuscripts submitted by family medicine residents for publication.
  • Maintain editorial workflows, track deadlines, and manage communications among editors, peer reviewers, authors, and journals.
  • Support authors with their research projects from submission to publication.
  • Train and mentor new editors, establishing best practices in editorial procedures.
  • Develop and update training materials to ensure consistency in editing quality across publications.
  • Oversee the manuscript lifecycle, tracking projects from submission through final publication.
  • Coordinate with editors, authors, and peer reviewers to meet timelines and deliverables.
  • Regularly update project databases, deadlines, and editorial resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.
  • Administrative experience in project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with editing tools such as 'Track Changes'.
  • Experience and openness to working with AI platforms.
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology or research methods is a bonus.
  • Experience or interest in public health, journalism, or nonprofits.
