About the position

The University of Alabama is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor of Counseling Education for its Counselor Education program. This non-tenure-earning position is designed for candidates with a strong background in counselor education and supervision, focusing on teaching and academic advisement for master's and doctoral students. The role is set to begin on either January 1, 2025, or August 15, 2025, depending on candidate availability, and includes a three-year contract with eligibility for renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core coursework in the master's and doctoral level counselor education program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, with a course load of 4 courses per fall and spring semester.
  • Fulfill service roles in the program, department, and college.
  • Provide academic advisement for master's and doctoral level students in the Counselor Education Program.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program by August 2024.
  • Licensure (or licensure eligible) as a professional counselor in Alabama or certification (or certification eligible) as a school counselor in Alabama.
  • Evidence of effective teaching and supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing counseling services to varied populations.
  • Demonstrated evidence of commitment to supporting underserved and underrepresented populations in alignment with accreditation requirements in the field of counseling.
