The University of Alabama's Department of Educational Studies is seeking applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Quantitative Research. This position is a one-year appointment designed for candidates who have earned a Ph.D. in educational research or a related field with a specialization in quantitative methods. Candidates who are ABD (All But Dissertation) with a scheduled dissertation defense before the end of the Fall 2024 semester are also encouraged to apply for the Visiting Instructor role. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of seven quantitative research faculty members and will be part of a vibrant qualitative research community that includes faculty and doctoral students from various disciplines across the university. The primary responsibilities of the position include teaching four classes in quantitative methods each semester, which constitutes 80% of the workload. The remaining 20% will be dedicated to service within the Department, College, and University. The Department of Educational Studies is known for its flourishing educational research program, offering a PhD in Educational Research and various certificates in Quantitative Research, Qualitative Research, and Measurement/Psychometrics. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality research that leads to publication, as well as effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must possess a demonstrated knowledge of quantitative research methods and educational research design, along with evidence of teaching effectiveness and the ability to engage with students and faculty from diverse disciplines.
