About the position

The Education and Outreach Facilitator at the Alaska Native Justice Center (ANJC) is responsible for coordinating outreach, education, and training related to victim services, particularly for victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse. This role involves developing strategic outreach plans, facilitating public awareness activities, and providing training to various stakeholders, including social and health services professionals and community organizations. The facilitator will also be involved in creating culturally relevant materials and conducting community needs assessments to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic outreach plans.
  • Lead, facilitate, and coordinate public awareness activities throughout the state.
  • Coordinate development of communications campaigns for awareness months.
  • Assist with ANJC communications to increase issue awareness and available victim services and resources.
  • Develop culturally relevant public awareness materials, including updating and training on culturally relevant victim resource guides.
  • Coordinate efforts to conduct and facilitate community needs assessments in Anchorage and rural Alaska.
  • Coordinate regional efforts to develop and implement strategic plans based on needs assessment outcomes.
  • Assess, adapt, and deliver trainings related to domestic violence, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and human trafficking.
  • Facilitate and attend program and agency-related meetings, trainings, and conferences.
  • Responsible for data collection, grant reporting, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate with the ANJC leadership team to monitor grant-required information and strategic planning processes.
  • Develop training curricula on domestic violence, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and human trafficking for ANJC staff.
  • Work in partnership with ANJC Legal team to meet grant objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Human Services, Justice, Alaska Studies, Indigenous Studies, or related field.
  • One year of experience providing training, education, and/or community outreach.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, education, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and human trafficking.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Proficient with computers and standard office equipment and programs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work well with a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively in cross-cultural situations.

  • Experience with content creation and social media management.
  • Excellent public relations, community organizing, and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the justice, health, and safety needs of the Alaska Native/American Indian community.
