About the position

The Education Coordinator for School and Youth Programs at Lauritzen Gardens is responsible for coordinating and leading educational initiatives related to school and youth programming, including day camps, field trips, and early childhood programming. This role emphasizes engagement with colleagues and stakeholders to support the organization's mission, ensuring a positive guest experience and effective communication. The coordinator will work closely with the Director of Education to develop programs, supervise staff, and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and plan winter and summer day camps in collaboration with the Director of Education.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote day camps and monitor registrations.
  • Plan and secure materials for camp activities and themes.
  • Support the hiring and training of seasonal staff for day camps.
  • Facilitate day camp programming and support staff during the camp season.
  • Survey participants for feedback to improve future programming.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide data related to camps for reporting purposes.
  • Develop and assess field trip programming for school year and summer groups.
  • Serve as the main contact for summer field trip programs and coordinate educational programs for field trip groups.
  • Secure and organize materials for field trips and provide volunteer training.
  • Coordinate with marketing on field trip promotions and survey participants for feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide data related to field trips for reporting purposes.
  • Develop and assess Pre-K programming and coordinate educational programs for Lil' Sprouts.
  • Secure and organize materials for Pre-K programs and provide volunteer training.
  • Collaborate with other Education Coordinators to maintain education spaces and materials.
  • Track and adhere to budgets with the Director of Education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a science-related field.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a public garden or non-profit education setting (preferred).
  • 1-2 years of experience with early childhood and/or elementary age youth (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-faceted environment.

  • Experience in public garden or non-profit education setting.
