About the position

The Education Director at Books & Rattles, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the preschool program, ensuring compliance with educational standards, and managing the center's operations. This role requires a certified professional with a strong background in early childhood and special education, who will collaborate with the Executive Director to lead the center effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and help design curriculum & lesson plans for all classrooms
• Participate in hiring and supervision management and scheduling of all staff
• Communicate with parents regarding the development of their children
• Give tours and 'sell' the center to potential clients
• Handle administrative duties
• Monitor enrollment and waiting list
• Handle telephones and walk-in inquiries
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be certified in Special Education
• Minimum 5 years teaching experience
• NYS Certification B-2 in early childhood and in special education
• School Administrator/Supervisor Certification
• Knowledge of curriculum design for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
• Knowledge of NYC Department of Health regulations for day care
• Ability to communicate with parents regarding child development
• Ability to pass all NYC Department of Health screening procedures

• Experience managing a childcare center
• Experience in customer service, management, marketing
• Excellent interpersonal skills to address family and staff needs
• 5 years experience in the field of child care preferred
