About the position

The Education Disabilities Manager is responsible for supervising education staff in the implementation of program policies and standards related to Early Childhood Development and Disabilities. This role involves planning and developing practices that ensure high-quality services for children and families, particularly those with disabilities. The manager will lead, mentor, and support staff while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise education staff in implementing program policies and standards.
  • Promote and monitor the implementation of the Pyramid Model and NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Ensure proper teacher-child ratios are maintained throughout the program.
  • Act as a leader, mentor, and role model in the Early Childhood Education community.
  • Diagnose classroom needs and provide effective support.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with fellow Education Disabilities Managers.
  • Complete required forms, reports, and licensing accurately and on time.
  • Manage, store, and monitor data in Program Databases.
  • Provide instruction/support to staff in using technology for program management.
  • Assure delivery of educational services, including for children with disabilities.
  • Engage parents of children with special needs to promote understanding of their rights.
  • Support parents in becoming advocates for their children with disabilities.
  • Facilitate Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings.
  • Ensure availability of special furniture, equipment, and materials for children with disabilities.
  • Design and deliver training to staff and parents on various topics related to disabilities and education.
  • Monitor classroom operations and ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Conduct regular visits to classrooms to monitor environments and services for children with disabilities.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine areas of improvement for children with disabilities.
  • Assist with classroom coverage in the event of staff absences.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible teaching experience with extensive knowledge of Child Development and Early Childhood Practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, Head Start Program Performance Standards, and licensing regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
