About the position

The Psychometrics and Data Analysis (PADA) unit is seeking a Data Analyst II to join our team. Activities of the Data Analyst role include scoring (calibration, equating, scaling/norming) and score reporting for operational and developing assessment programs, carrying out quality control measures, use of R and R Markdown programming and other technical tools. The ideal candidate will have advanced R and R Markdown skills, experience with Tidyverse R packages, and experience developing and/or following R coding standards and best practices. The ability to write efficient, reliable, well-tested code, interpret requirements, and document R scripts and R Markdown reports is essential, as is the ability to troubleshoot code written by others. This role has been designated as primarily remote, meaning it requires little to no onsite attendance. While this role can be designated as remote, you are offered the flexibility to select if you prefer to work primarily remotely, hybrid, or onsite. We're open to considering candidates within 50 miles of our office location in Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development of R scripts and R Markdown reports to support scoring, reporting, analysis, and data management activities carried out by our DA team
  • Carry out score calculation, analyses, and score reporting for assessments such as the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) and other assessments for health care professions under the direction of a psychometrician
  • Plan and coordinate timelines and perform analytical and data management tasks
  • Perform quality control procedures to identify and resolve inconsistencies in all aspects of data analysis and score reporting to maintain integrity of scores
  • Collaborate with other internal NBME units on a variety of projects
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in specific areas of work on the Data Analysis team

Requirements

  • Educational measurement background is preferred
  • Advanced R and R Markdown skills
  • Strong data management, SQL, and statistical package experience (SPSS, SAS, etc.; SPSS preferred)
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team charged with writing and maintaining R code used by a large team is a plus
  • Sufficient knowledge of statistical procedures to work independently on most aspects of score calculation and reporting
  • High level of quantitative and logical reasoning ability
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Attentive to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously; manage competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organizational and project management skills
