About the position

The Education Outreach role at Johnson Service Group involves delivering educational programming to youth in various settings, including classrooms, outdoor environments, and virtual platforms. The position focuses on preparing educational materials, supporting curriculum development, and engaging with youth-focused organizations to enhance community outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

• Present programming such as lessons, tours, and assemblies in classroom, outdoor, and virtual settings.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain teaching materials.
• Support the creation of educational curriculum and newsletters.
• Assist with data collection and record keeping.
• Support outreach to schools, libraries, summer camps, and youth-serving organizations.
• Provide administrative and operational assistance when needed within the Office of Civic Engagement.

Requirements

• Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education, public relations, communications, or a related field.
• One (1) year of experience in education, outreach activities, community relations, or public relations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
• Live within a 150-mile radius of Valley Water headquarters.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with youth in grades K-12 highly desired, including collaboration with school staff such as teachers, office staff, and administrators.
• Strong written and verbal skills, with directly relatable experience in conveying direction/instructions to various audiences.
• Strong presentation abilities, including skills related to engaging diverse youth audiences.

Benefits

• Contract position with a starting rate of $43.60 per hour.
• Part-time work averaging 15-20 hours per week.
