About the position

The Education Programs Coordinator at the Museum of Science & History (MOSH) is a full-time position responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of educational programs tailored for K-12 students. This role serves as a primary point of contact for schools and organizations interested in MOSH's educational offerings, including field trips, group tours, outreach programs, and discovery camps. The coordinator will also take on the role of an educator, presenting school programs and facilitating offsite events. In this position, the coordinator will maintain effective communication with schools and organizations, ensuring a welcoming experience for groups arriving at the museum. They will manage ticket sales and reservations for educational programs, requiring familiarity with the ACME Point-of-Sale software. The coordinator will supervise educators and volunteers, assist in classroom management, and contribute to curriculum development. They will work closely with the Education Manager to evaluate and enhance existing educational offerings, ensuring they meet the needs of students and align with educational standards. The role also involves generating marketing materials for educational programs, attending professional development workshops, and staying updated on educational trends and research. The coordinator will be expected to maintain a collaborative environment, working with various departments to support the museum's overall goals. This position requires flexibility, as some evening or weekend hours may be necessary based on scheduled programming.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain prompt and courteous communication with schools and organizations regarding education programs.
  • Schedule education programs in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Welcome and check in school groups arriving for education programs.
  • Act as the primary contact for ticket sales reservations for K-12 programs.
  • Assist with group sales reservations and process payments for education programs.
  • Supervise educators and volunteers assigned to education programs.
  • Assist with classroom management and curriculum development training.
  • Organize teaching tools related to educational programs and outreach activities.
  • Work with the Education Manager to evaluate and improve educational offerings.
  • Present programs in an interactive and educational manner.
  • Deliver evaluation instruments to program participants.
  • Facilitate daytime and after-hours programming as needed.
  • Assist in generating marketing information for education programs.
  • Perform other related duties as required for collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education or a closely related field.
  • Previous experience teaching in formal or informal educational settings preferred.
  • Florida Department of Education Professional Teaching Certification preferred but not required.
  • Solid computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ticketing point of sale systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
  • Exceptional classroom management skills and ability to maintain order while supporting students and teachers.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with an understanding of State of Florida K-12 Education Standards.
