The Education Support Specialist II (Career Coach) at Fauquier High School serves as a vital resource for students, facilitating dual enrollment registrations and coordinating with college specialists to assist students in earning degrees or credentials. The role involves career assessments, academic career planning, and providing support for post-graduation plans, including college placement and workforce entry. The coach will also collaborate with school staff to enhance employability and soft skills training, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future endeavors.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate dual enrollment registrations for students.
• Coordinate with Laurel Ridge Dual Enrollment Specialists to assist students in earning degrees or credentials.
• Conduct career assessments and assist with writing academic career plans.
• Serve as a resource for counselors and staff in career counseling.
• Assist students with post-graduation plans, including college placement testing and financial aid applications.
• Support students planning to enter the workforce directly.
• Work closely with the WBL coach to support student referrals for work-based learning experiences.
• Stay informed about college programs, including transfer and non-transfer degrees and certificates.
• Attend training to remain current on program changes at Laurel Ridge.
• Complete all required reports.

Requirements

• Experience utilizing oral and written communication skills in presentations and reports.
• Proficiency in computer technology, including Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience administering and interpreting assessments.
• Experience conducting workshops for small groups.
• Demonstrated proficiency with computer software and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Ability to work well with others and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Previous secondary school experience, preferably in a high school setting, or related professional experiences.

• Compensation commensurate with education and experience, starting at $20.00-30.00 per hour.
