About the position

The position involves providing a diverse selection of academic, vocational, and recreational programs for inmates, ensuring their successful reentry into society. The role requires maintaining educational records, providing technical support, and assisting in the overall operation of the education department within a correctional institution. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining security and safety within the institution while fostering a humane environment for inmates.

Responsibilities

• Provide a diverse selection of academic, occupational, vocational training, and recreational programs for inmates.
• Assist with the maintenance and control of the Education Department records and files.
• Ensure that all reporting requirements are met for the Education Department.
• Key education information in the Education Data System (EDS) based on professional staff input.
• Record and maintain budgetary data and financial records, providing statistical information to supervisors and staff.
• Maintain security of the institution as a primary responsibility.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-05 level in federal service for GL-06 applicants.
• Experience in maintaining and controlling education/training records and files.
• Ability to utilize automated systems for data extraction and compilation.
• Experience in preparing spreadsheets and reports for educational purposes for GL-07 applicants.

• Graduate education directly related to the work of the position may be credited in some instances.
