About the position

The Education Technician position at the Department of Justice is responsible for providing a diverse selection of academic, vocational, and recreational programs for inmates within the institution. This role involves technical support for the Education Department's operations, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. The incumbent plays a crucial role in fostering a secure environment while preparing individuals for successful reentry into society.

Responsibilities

• Provide a diverse selection of academic, vocational, and recreational programs for inmates.
• Assist with the maintenance and control of the Education Department records and files.
• Ensure all reporting requirements are met for the Education Department.
• Key education information in the Education Data System (EDS) based on information provided by professional staff.
• Record and maintain budgetary data and financial records, providing statistical information to supervisors and staff members.
• Maintain security of the institution as a primary responsibility.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-05 level in federal service, including skills in planning, conducting, or evaluating educational and training programs.
• Ability to develop and compile complex reports, identify anomalies, and provide summaries based on data.
• Experience preparing spreadsheets and reports for educational purposes and assisting in the implementation and evaluation of educational programs.
• Technical support experience with audio-visual equipment and business-related equipment.
