About the position

The Educational Consultant position at Vanderbilt University supports the Tennessee Tiered Supports Center, focusing on training and coaching districts in implementing Response to Instruction and Intervention for Academics and Behavior (RTI 2 -A + RTI 2 -B). Responsibilities

  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain expert-level knowledge in academic and behavioral instruction.
  • Consult with district leadership teams to strengthen RTI 2 -A and RTI 2 -B implementation.
  • Establish a shared vision for RTI 2 -A + RTI 2 -B with district teams.
  • Use assessments to evaluate strengths and areas for improvement in districts.
  • Guide the creation of district-level plans for improving RTI 2 -A + RTI 2 -B.
  • Facilitate training and coaching opportunities targeting district goals.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with district and school leaders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings with district leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure uniform technical assistance across the state.
  • Co-facilitate professional learning opportunities, including in-person and virtual training events.
  • Collect regional outcome data using assessment tools and support action planning based on this data.
  • Co-lead presentations at professional conferences and events.
  • Promote effective RTI practices through social media and web content.
  • Participate in Vanderbilt and center-wide meetings to ensure coordinated technical assistance.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree or higher in special education, education, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least five years of school-based experience with knowledge in tiered academic and/or behavioral interventions is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience consulting with or supporting district-level staff is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in special education or related fields.
  • Familiarity with RTI frameworks and practices.
