About the position

The Educational Planner for Dual Credit at Central Campus is responsible for engaging potential and current dual credit and early college high school (ECHS) students in the college-going culture through educational planning, academic advising, registration, Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) testing, and career exploration. This role serves as a liaison between high schools and San Jacinto College, informing students about dual credit opportunities. The planner assists in the recruitment, application, and enrollment of dual credit students, establishes relationships with secondary education institutions, and facilitates the exchange of information with K-12 partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provides educational planning and academic advising, monitors academic progress, and assists dual credit and ECHS students in accessing student success resources.
  • Registers students for dual credit and ECHS entities, complying with all rules regarding course prerequisites and skill levels.
  • Provides transfer and career pathway advising, guiding transitions to university, military, or career.
  • Enters student information in the Banner Student information system, maintains student files and records, and documents all pertinent student information.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts retention and completion activities.
  • Assists with the graduation application process and commencement activities.
  • Prepares materials and presents at student recruitment activities, parent information sessions, orientation, and other campus events.
  • Assists with TSIA testing for dual credit and ECHS students at various sites.
  • Works cooperatively with counterparts on other campuses to achieve the College's annual goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college/university.
  • Previous customer service experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in career advising, academic advising, minority concerns, learning styles/study skills, retention, and recruiting, preferably at the community college level.
  • Experience administering and evaluating college-level assessments, including computerized assessments.
  • Banner Student information system experience preferred.
