About the position
This position is designed to assist teachers in providing instruction to students in various areas including behavior, life skills, social skills, emotional regulation, and academics. The role involves working closely with students who have moderate to severe disabilities, ensuring that they receive the support they need to thrive in a classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Reinforce varied instructional techniques within a classroom setting
- Assist the teacher with follow-up small group instruction
- Monitor and manage classroom activities
- Assist in instructional preparation as a team member
- Support students with daily living activities such as hygiene, toileting, and feeding
- Provide community and vocational-based supervision
- Supervise designated students in the classroom and building
- Extend intervention techniques to other settings within the school/community
- Collect and record daily data on student progress
- Perform other duties and classroom/program assignments as required
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with students with disabilities
- Working knowledge of computer technology
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and positive behavior supports
- Willingness to learn daily data collection techniques
