About the position
The Educational Talent Search Program Advisor at UC Davis is responsible for developing and implementing academic outreach programs aimed at increasing college eligibility and access for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This role involves advising high school students and their families on higher education opportunities, coordinating academic enrichment activities, and managing program development to enhance educational outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop academic outreach programs for college-bound students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Assess the needs of the student population and determine effective service delivery methods.
- Advise students and parents on higher education opportunities and financial aid.
- Develop and present workshops on post-secondary admissions and student services.
- Coordinate summer programs and campus visits for students and parents.
- Serve on committees to set policy and strategy for student programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
- Advising experience with low-income/first-generation high school students.
- Experience with California public school systems and program development.
- Knowledge of admissions procedures, financial aid, and educational standards.
- Strong communication skills to engage with diverse groups.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with outreach efforts to increase educational achievement among diverse populations.
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently.
- Experience in budget management and allocation oversight.
- Skills in developing innovative educational programs.
