About the position

The Sr. EDW Consultant for the DEA Datawarehouse Project is responsible for supporting the Office of Information Systems within the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This role involves working with SQL Server-based Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) systems, ensuring database integrity and performance, and transitioning systems to a cloud environment. The position requires an active secret clearance and involves collaboration within an Agile development framework.

Responsibilities

  • Assist EDW Team in providing data warehouse information and transitioning to a cloud environment.
  • Create and maintain database integrity and performance using scripts and/or VS Database Project.
  • Develop and improve data transformation services using Microsoft SSIS and other tools.
  • Write SQL Scripts to deploy, enhance, and maintain databases.
  • Manage database security, including DB Roles, Users, and Logins.
  • Facilitate data access and reporting using SSRS, PowerBI, etc.
  • Conduct performance tuning and database design, including dimensional analysis and modeling.
  • Maintain and enhance SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) packages for ETL processes.
  • Participate in Agile stand-up meetings and planning sessions.
  • Create and maintain SQL Server Report Service (SSRS) and other BI tools.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Cloud environment experience (AWS or Microsoft Azure).
  • 8 years of experience in SQL Server database design, development, and implementation.
  • 2 years of experience with SSIS packages for data manipulation and loading.
  • 2 years of experience with SQL Server 2012 environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence, Kimball Modeling, and/or Elasticsearch is desired.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Agile development environment.
  • Experience with Git, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps Server.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Knowledge of multi-dimensional data models.
  • Understanding of Kimball data warehouse methodology.
